OIL ON CANVAS 28" X 36" Signed lower right. What Vickery is best known for and will be best remembered for is his ability to paint the infinite moods of water - to make it come to life. He often credited Lake Michigan as being his greatest instructor. Vickery loved sketching at the Chicago waterfront, the Indiana dunes, and along the Eastern Seaboard. He was a charter member of The American Society of Marine Artists and the Oil Painters of America, Palette and Chisel Academy, Rockport Art Assoc.,North Shore Art Assoc., others He exhibited at the Union League Club, Ackerman Gallery, North Shore Art Assoc., In 1970 Vickery won the Waters of the World Prize.
